Martina Hayes is a qualified and creative interior designer and building designer with over 10 years of experience and is passionate about bringing out the best in your space. Founding her own business in 2014 and seeing it thriving, she has engaged a small number of team members. Their qualification and dedication are paramount to maintaining the highest standard of professionalism within the team. From the Greenwich studio on the lower north shore, the design firm serves the entire Sydney area.

Qualification

I got my diploma in interior design at the award-winning Sydney Design School based in St Leonards and furthered my education at the reputable Inter­national School of Colour and Design, where I graduated with distinction in 2012. Following that, I worked as an interior designer and building designer for the design studio Inspired Spaces, putting my knowledge into practice.

For as long as I can think of, I have been fasci­nated by design and architec­ture. However, in my twenties, I worked successfully as a real estate agent. This gives me a sound understanding of what improvements add the most value to your property, a skill that comes in handy for your home renovation, above all.

Detour to becoming a designer

With the urge to further my education, I subsequently got a masters degree in business admini­stration and changed my career path to becoming a corporate communi­­cations manager in the banking world. Today, I leverage my communication skills to understand your requirements and translate them into a space beyond your expectations.

Growing up in Germany in central Europe, I have had and taken the opportunity to travel extensively. As a result, I draw a lot of inspiration from Scandi­na­vian simpli­city, Italian flair and German functio­nality while incorporating these with the con­tem­porary Australian way of life I so much enjoy. In 2005, my travels led me to Australia, where I met my now husband, Rowan, and moved to Australia. I haven’t looked back.

I’m lucky to have a great team by my side. From left: Rowan Hayes, me, Chelsea Widdicombe and Linda Blyth. Both Chelsea and Linda are qualified designers, however, with different focuses. Chelsea specialises in decorating and colour consulting creating the most beautiful homes, whereas Linda, with her engineering and technical background, draws plans and collates documents for development applications and CDCs. As a chemical engineer, Rowan supports the team in all matters that are not design-related but important nevertheless.

Because of our mix of different experiences, focuses and age brackets, the team of Martina Hayes is bringing a holistic approach to your individual design project.
