Family room design with indigenous touch

The clients in Lane Cove asked for a contemporary family room design with an indigenous touch.Family-Living-Room-Design-Lane-Cove-840

Colourful focal point

With its vivid colours, the rug is the focal point of the space followed by the artwork above the fireplace.

Family room design with organic feel

While rug and artwork spell out indigenous, the rustic furniture pieces support the organic feel of the family room.

Bring nature into your home

The Turpentine tree branch in the corner has been stripped down to its beautiful bare timber, set into an oversized planting pot.

Neutral colours

For a soothing backdrop for this contemporary family room design, I opted for paint colours and sofa in a neutral palette.

Small lounge room design, North Sydney

The brief was to decorate a classic and contemporary lounge room that can be easily converted into a guest bed room if required.Formal-Lounge-Living-Room-Design-North-Sydney-347

Small room to look spacious

I furnished the space with single lounge chairs for a more spacious look. When visitors turn up on the door step, the chairs can be easily put aside. This creates enough room for a single or even queen sized bed to be set up.

Conversion into guest bed room

The console table in front of the window becomes a handy writing desk for the visitor’s tablet, while the stool acts also as a night stand. The mirrored built-in robe offers ample storage for clothes, shoes and travel luggage.

Lounge room design

The versatile furniture makes the most of this small sized lounge room allowing sufficient circulation space whether the room is used as a lounge or a guest bed room. The egg chair and swan chairs are classic statement pieces that won’t go out of style.

It’s a challenge to decorate a dual purpose room successfully. If you have a space that you find difficult to decorate, please contact me.
